At first glance, it seems simple. The kitchen is chosen, the cabinetry is ordered, the appliances are ready and one feels that all that is left to do is to assemble everything. But it's at this point that many people realise that the cost of assembling an IKEA kitchen isn't just some one-size-fits-all number that can be typed into a website and that's the end of it. The reality is much more varied. And most importantly: with a kitchen, it's not just how much the furniture itself costs, but how it will look in the end, how it will work and how much nerve the whole process will cost you.

On the internet you will often find indicative price lists, general phrases or very tempting promises. But the actual price of installation always depends on the specific kitchen, the specific space and the specific readiness of the apartment or house. It is one thing to have a small flat kitchen in a block of flats, another to have a larger set-up in a new build, another to have a kitchen with high cabinets up to the ceiling, built-in appliances, a cut worktop, and another to have a completely different situation when it turns out on site that the sockets are elsewhere, the water is wrong, the corner is not ninety degrees and the worktop is not from IKEA. At that point, it's no longer a simple matter of putting the cabinets together. That's when experience makes all the difference.

That's why it's a good idea to look at the installation of an IKEA kitchen not as the last detail at the end of a project, but as one of the most important parts of the whole project. You can have a beautifully designed kitchen for a hundred grand or more, but if it's poorly assembled it will end up looking cheap, crooked and amateurish. And vice versa: even a standard kitchen can look great in the end if it's properly planned and professionally fitted.

People often ask why the price of installation varies so much. The answer is simple. Every kitchen is different and every job has its own specifics. The number of cupboards, the type of worktop, the amount of finishing, built-in appliances, tiling, the readiness of the wiring, the readiness of the water and waste, the quality of the walls, the flatness of the floor and whether everything is ordered correctly all make a difference. On paper, it can all look easy. But in reality, a kitchen is created in a real space, which has its own variations, its own limits and very often its own unpleasant surprises.

When we talk about how much it costs to fit an IKEA kitchen in practice, it's fair to say that there is no one-size-fits-all figure. Still, it is possible to navigate within a realistic range. For smaller and simpler kitchens, the price can be relatively affordable. For regular medium-sized kitchens, we're already moving up, and for larger or more technically demanding implementations, the difference can be really significant. Once you add tall cabinets, built-in appliances, milled countertop joints, atypical finishes or the need to address things that should have been prepared in advance, the installation takes longer and the price logically rises with it.

A large number of customers mainly think of kitchen assembly as the folding of carcasses and the hanging of doors. But this is only part of the process. In reality, assembly is much more than that. You need to lay everything out sensibly, prepare it, check the delivery, line up the cabinetry, seat and join the cabinets, sort out the skirting boards, panels, mouldings, worktops, cut-outs, appliances, lighting and often lots of details that are not visible at first glance, but are what determine whether the kitchen looks professional or not. In fact, it's often not the grand gestures that decide the kitchen, but the millimetres.

Another thing that has a huge impact on the price of an IKEA kitchen installation is the readiness of the space. That's a chapter in itself. On paper, everything is ideal. In practice, you'll often find that the drawer is a few centimetres off, the drain is too high or too low, the water doesn't come out where it should, the wall isn't straight, the corner isn't the right angle and the floor has a life of its own. And these are the moments when the bread breaks. Because a kitchen is not fitted into a catalogue, it's fitted into a real apartment. And if someone does IKEA kitchen installation every day, they know very well that there are more situations like this than the customer could ever imagine when planning.

The influence of the worktop is also often underestimated. If the worktop is ordered directly from IKEA and everything fits as planned, the situation is usually easier. But once the customer chooses a different worktop, it adds another layer of work, another responsibility and often more time. Cutting, finishing, joints, fitting the sink and hob, connections to walls and corners all have a direct impact on the final price. And so do the appliances. Built-in fridge, oven, microwave, dishwasher, cooker hood, everything has to fit precisely, ventilate properly, and be fitted correctly so that the kitchen not only looks good, but more importantly, works for the long term.

One of the most common mistakes when looking for an answer to the question „how much does it cost to assemble an IKEA kitchen“ is that people only compare a number without context. But price alone says almost nothing without explanation. Two companies may offer a similar amount at first glance, but the result may be completely different. With one you get a service where everything is clearly explained, agreed and finalised. With the other, you may get only an indicative estimate, later price increases, on-the-spot improvisation and the feeling that you have to sort out half of it yourself anyway. And this is where you need to be very careful.

Transparency is essential in kitchen installation. The customer should know what is included, what can increase the price and why. It should not be the case that on the spot they start to work out what is extra without communicating it in advance. Of course, there are some situations that you really can't accurately predict in advance, especially if the apartment is poorly prepared or a problem comes up during the work that no one knew about. But that's why it's important to have someone on the other side who can explain things, is straightforward and has enough experience to be able to anticipate most complications before the actual installation.

Self-assembly is also a big topic. A lot of people think that this is where they save money. And yes, on paper it may look logical. But assembling an IKEA kitchen on your own is actually much more expensive than it looks. Not necessarily just in money, but in time, nerves and mistakes. A kitchen is no ordinary chest of drawers. It's a complex system that has to fit in the space, follow the wiring, work ergonomically and look good at the same time. If one doesn't do similar work regularly, it's very easy to underestimate the little things that turn into big problems later. Crookedly fitted cabinets, miscalculated heights, inadequate ventilation for appliances, improperly designed worktop joints or details around panels and plinths are all things that can mean not only a spoiled impression in the end, but also additional repair costs.

And this is where we come back to the most important thing. The price of assembling an IKEA kitchen isn't just the price of a few hours of work. It's the price of experience, of confidence, of a professional result and of having someone handle things for you. If something is missing during assembly, you need to know what to do about it. If a mistake was made during the planning process, you need to recognize it and find a solution. If the wiring doesn't match reality, you need to know exactly what can still be adjusted and what can't. These are not things that one learns from one video or in one weekend. These are things that come about through practice.

What's more, in our case, the big difference is that IKEA kitchen installation is not just one of many services on the side. It's the main specialisation. We work with the IKEA METOD system all the time, all over the Czech Republic, and it's because of this that we can spot things in the planning stage that can save the customer money later. This, by the way, is another aspect that is often forgotten. The real savings are not just because someone gives a lower price for installation. The real savings often come from the design of the kitchen, when unnecessary mistakes, bad combinations or solutions that look good on paper but bring complications in practice are avoided.

Another great advantage is that the customer does not pay for anonymity. Today it is common that people do not know in advance who will come to their apartment and how they will work. With us it is different. Our installations can be seen online, we show real jobs on YouTube and people can get a very accurate idea of how the work is done beforehand. That's a huge thing in the trade. It's not just about marketing. It's about trust. If someone shows their work publicly, they automatically guard it a lot more. And the customer is also confident that they know what they're getting into.

So perhaps the most sensible answer to the question of what the cost of installing an IKEA kitchen is: it depends on the kitchen, but it's certainly not worth looking at the lowest figure. If you want your kitchen to look good, work properly and not have something go wrong after a few weeks, it's worth tackling the installation as honestly as the design. A kitchen is an investment for years. And the assembly is the part where you end up seeing everything.

If you're in the process of designing a new kitchen and are wondering how much it will cost to install an IKEA kitchen in your particular case, it's best to send in a plan or kitchen design and take a realistic look at the actual scope of work. Only from this can you get a reasonable price that matches reality and not just a guideline idea. And if you want to get an idea of what such an installation looks like in practice beforehand, that's why we have real examples of actual jobs on the web and on YouTube. Because with kitchens, it's always better to see once than read ten times.

How much does it cost to install an IKEA kitchen and why can the price vary so much?
